Report: $13M in Settlements Paid to Women Who Accused Bill O’Reilly of Harassment

Fox News and Bill O’Reilly have paid out around $13 million in settlements to five women who accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment or verbal abuse, the New York  Times  reports. The women, who all either worked for O’Reilly or appeared on his top-rated television program, “complained about a wide range of behavior, including verbal abuse, lewd comments, unwanted advances and phone calls in which it sounded as if Mr. O’Reilly was masturbating, according to documents and interviews,” per the  Times  investigation. The women were given the payouts in exchange for agreeing not to pursue litigation or make their allegations public. Some of the settlements were completed in secret, and two happened after former Fox News chief Roger Ailes was dismissed following his own sexual harassment scandal last year. The earliest O’Reilly settlement happened in 2002. 21st Century Fox, Fox News’s parent company, indicated in a statement to the  Times  that they are continuing to stand behind O’Reilly:

Tesla Plans To Build Entire City

Image
Elon Musk can’t stop. Tesla can’t stop. The cleantech revolution can’t stop. As if electric robotaxis, solar roofs, insane battery price reductions and gigafactories, reusable rockets, record-shattering acceleration, electric semi trucks and minibuses, and hyperloops + tunnel-boring companies weren’t enough, Elon Musk has decided to build entire cleantech cities. Well, he’s starting with one, but if all goes well, that could leads to hundreds more. As you might have guessed, these #TeslaCities have several unique features. First of all, when it comes to the buildings, they will all have solar roofs. For remaining electricity needs, electricity will come from wind farms or solar farms built in the region. In certain cases, geothermal power, hydropower, and rainbow power might be used — more on the latter another day. Some amount of battery storage (Tesla Powerpacks and Powerwalls) will be installed as well in order to always match electricity supply with electricity demand. Cit

LG G6 phone: full, in-depth review

Image
LG’s G series has been getting better and better over the years. The modular G5 was an interesting phone that turned out to be great value once the price dropped (plummeted). Now here’s the G6 which brings a spec sheet and features that aim to take on the best on the market. It might not look too fancy at first glance, but there’s a lot going on. We suspect the big question will be, ‘Is it the phone to get right now, or should you bother waiting for, what history suggests, will be a big price drop in a few months?’ Key specs 5.7in, 1440 x 2880 LCD screen, 32,64GB/4GB RAM, 2.35GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 821 CPU, Adreno 530 GPU, Dual 13MP rear cameras (regular and wide-angle) plus 5MP front camera, microSD (dual SIM slot on some models), USB-C, IP68 dust/waterproof, Android 7, Google Assistant, 3300mAh battery, 149 x 72 x 8mm, 163g.  Design and handling Lets face it. It’s not much to look at. It’s a shiny, black (also available in “silver”) box that’s a bit chunky not unlike the d

Samsung's Galaxy S8 can turn into a PC with this...

Image
Samsung, like Motorola and Microsoft before it, is trying to turn a phone into a PC. Samsung’s Galaxy S8 will pair with a new Samsung Desktop Experience (DeX) dock accessory to morph into a desktop PC-like environment. The specialized dock, that looks like a candle holder, supports a monitor connection via HDMI, keyboard, mouse, and two USB ports to help expand the Galaxy S8’s capabilities. Samsung’s dock even has a special embedded cooling fan to help keep the Galaxy S8 cool when you’re using it to display Android apps on a monitor, and a USB-C connection to power it. Samsung’s desktop mode comes with an app drawer on the side, and supports Android apps with full access to notifications and resizeable windows. The whole interface looks a little like Chrome OS, but there’s no full desktop browser here. That means you’re limited to how well Android apps are supported on bigger screens, and most apps in the Google Play Store simply aren’t optimized for this type of usage. Samsung’s ow

Samsung Galaxy S8 guide reveals dual Bluetooth audio function and more

Image
Samsung is finally taking the wraps off the Galaxy S8 later today in New York, but we’ve still got time to squeeze in a few more leaks. Like, for example, the phone’s user guide. Yep, the whole document got posted online earlier at Samsung’s download center.  Phandroid   caught it before it got sealed up, and although there aren’t many surprises, it’s still a good overview of what the S8 will be offering. There’s the “Edge screen” with its super-slim bezels, the intelligent assistant Bixby (capable of navigating the UI, setting reminders, and performing image searches from your camera), and Samsung Dex — which allows you to connect the phone to an external display and use it like a computer with keyboard and mouse. This apparently lets you stream Bluetooth audio to two different headsets or speakers simultaneously, giv

Tips for better baked frozen pizza

For better baked frozen pizza, ignore the instructions on the box. Fully thaw the pizza the bake it for 5-8 minutes on the hottest temperature your oven will go. Having recently done a lot of experimenting with "upgrading" cheap frozen pizzas to make them taste less, well, cheap and frozen, this has been by far the most important trick. Commercial pizzas are baked in stone ovens that get up to 700- 1000 degrees, which is why they bake so quickly and end up with nice crispy crusts and un-burned everything else. Your home oven will never get that hot but you can try to get as close as possible to emulate the effect. Cook the pizza on the bare rack to maximize air circulation if you don't have a pizza stone or a cast iron skillet/slab. If you have either of those, heat it in the oven first and then cook the pizza on that once the oven hits its max temperature. For even better pizza, brush the crust with olive oil before you bake and sprinkle either fresh garlic or g
